This is a silly little kitchen hack, but it’s really changed my morning routine game.
Almost every morning, I make a breakfast sandwich. I put my bread in the toaster, and then I get some mix of the following ingredients out of the refrigerator:
- eggs
- salmon
- cream cheese
- onion
- cucumber
- tomato
- spinach
- berries (not for my sandwich, but as a side)
That’s a lot of stuff. I had been piling them into my arms and using my chin to hold them secure as I walked the couple steps from the fridge to counter to do my prep work. But then I thought, “wouldn’t it be nice if I could transport all of this stuff, all at once, without the risk of it coming crashing down if the cat trips me?”
So, I grabbed an adorable underused tray from a cabinet and put it on top of the fridge. Now, when it’s time to make breakfast, I take the tray down and load it up with my ingredients. And when I’m done making my sandwich, I put everything back on the tray and put everything away at once, too.
Like I said: it’s silly. But it’s so much more efficient than what I had been doing, and we can all use a little help first thing in the morning, right?
